Prophase 1- chromosomes already duplicated, homologus chromosomes pair together in bivalents or tetrads, bivalents have 2 chromatids, 2 bivalents make tetrad with 4 chromatids. Non homolugus chromosomes break up at chiasmata, cross over happens, Metaphase 1- tetrad chromosomes line up on the metaphase plate, equal chance for them to be pulled apart.
