Haploid - one of every kind of chromosomes. Crossing over occurs between non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes. Replicating chromosomes: they are in the process of being duplicated. Genes live in specific places along the chromosome (locus). There is 40 pg of dna in a hypothetical cell just prior to mitosis. In one of the daughter cells produced from this mitosis, there will be 20 pg of dna just before it enters s phase. Meiosis ii does not decrease chromosome number but it does decrease dna content. Crossing over rearranges combinations of alleles along a single chromatid. Have 2 and 2 recombinant and parental because it can only occur between non-sister chromatids of duplicated chromosomes.
