The meaning and dimensions of culture: the nature of culture, culture= acquired knowledge that people use to interpret experience and generate social behaviour. Formal authority- obedience and conformance to hierarchical position are very important\ Group orientation- cooperation, conformity and compromise are important organisational values. Personnel are rewarded based on seniority not merit. Indulgence vs restraint= measures the freedom to satisfy one"s natural needs and desires within society. Indulgent= encourage instant gratification of natural human needs. Individualism vs communitarianism : communitarianism= refers to people regarding themselves as part of a group. Sequential- tend to only do one activity at a time. Synchronous- people do more than one activity at a time: the environment , whether they believe in controlling outcomes (inner-directed) or letting things take their own course (outer-directed) Sometimes i feel that i do not have enough control over the directions my life is taking.
