Habits: behavioural personality theories any model of personality that emphasizes learning and observable behaviour. Learning theorists a psychologist interested in the ways that learning shapes behaviour and explains personality. Believe that behaviour and personality is learned. Behavioural theories believe there is no such things as traits, but that they are stable learned responses: how situations affect behaviour. Situational determinants external conditions that strongly influence behaviour: personality=behaviour. John dollard & neal miller argue that habits (a deeply ingrained, learned pattern of behaviour), make up personality. Habits are governed by 4 elements of learning. Drive stimulus that is strong enough to create a response. Reward positive reinforcements, increases action: social learning theory an explanation of personality that combines learning principles, cognition, and the effects of social relationships. Julian rotter concepts that exemplify social learning theory. Psychological situation a situation as it is perceived and interpreted by an individual, not as it exists objectively.
