Although authoritative parents believe firmly in structure, they understand that rules don"t take precedence over human needs. While authoritarian parents may love their child deeply, their upbringing can appear to be inflexible, rigid, cold. Permissive parents are at the opposite end of the spectrum from authoritarian parents. Rather than simply adhering to a single style, parents should provide consistent roadmap for their child. Rejecting neglecting parents are the worst of both worlds low on structure and low on love. Difficult life conditions affect child rearing decisions today. When parents believe the neighborhood is dangerous, they naturally react by laying down more rigid rules. Rejecting neglecting parenting is poisonous for children in every culture. In every society, good parents provide consistent discipline and love.
