Non-verbal behaviour: humans fascinated by watching other peoples behaviour, social perception the study of how we form impressions of other people, non-verbal communication-how people communicate though nonverbal means, facial expression of emotion. Decode interpret the meaning of nonverbal behaviour of others. This differences in thinking affects our perception of expressions: why is decoding sometimes innacurate. Affect blends when one part of the face register one emotion, the other another. Display rules rules about what expression is appropiate, they are particular to each culture. And depend on many things like gender, age, etc. Example japan women discourage to show their smiles: other non-verbal communication. Ok sign north america means okay, france (money), mexico (sex) But in other places like japan, and thailand people use minimal eye contact. Emblems nonverbal gestures, have a particular meaning within a culture. Strongly tied to cultures and passed from generations. Ex western culture placed particular attention to beauty.
