Attempts to identify & measure characteristics that distinguish criminals from others have largely disappeared. Criminology"s organizing focus crime is potentially a highly contestable & problematic term. Raid in 1987 police seized a videotape which showed a # of identifiable men engaging in heavy sado-masochistic (sm) activities including beatings, genital abrasions & lacerations.
