Role of the line manager: all line managers are people managers. It is through the e ective leadership of the line manager or supervisor that the talent or intellectual capital of the organization is enhanced. It is the line manager who directly interacts with the employees and is responsible for their e ective contribution to the organization. Role of the hr professional: besides knowing how to recruit and pay people appropriately, hr professionals need sound business knowledge, good problem-solving and in uence skills, and personal credibility (trust and the ability to build personal relationships). Primary role is to help equip the line manager with the best people practices so that the organization can be successful.
