How your sense of self develops in particular contexts and situations. Being yourself at a job interview vs. hanging out with friends. Images of self vary across different contexts. An underlying sense of who you really are . Express yourself in situations where you feel comfortable/at ease. Your sense of who you are also shows at times where you have to fake how you feel or who you really are. The self is complex and paradoxical phenomenon. Tend to see the self as a private possession . Seen as a relatively stable structure that resides within the individual. Social psychologists view the self is a social creature. The self is acquired through social interactions. Relying on others to collaborate in this process. The self must renew itself in different social situations.
