The central nervous system (cns: the central nervous system consists of the parts that are encased in bone: the brain and the spinal cord. The brain is divided into 3 different parts: the cerebrum: largest part of the brain; that is divided in to two cerebral hemispheres by the sagittal fissure. *brain of a rat: the cerebellum: a movement control centre, brain stem: regulation of vital functions. Spinal cord: spinal cord communicates with the brain via spinal nerves.
