ECON-101 Chapter Notes - Chapter 1: Robert Gurney, Global Warming
Document Summary
Chapter one: taking charge of your health. People born in the early 1900"s had a life expectancy of only 47 years. The age of life expectancy in today"s present has doubled from that number. Occupational wellness is measured by the individual"s happiness. Death causing diseases have shifted from infectious diseases to heart. The health determinant in which we have no control over is our own genetic makeup, also referred to as our genomes. Determining one"s wellness is based on their own behaviour. The top health issue in students today that is affecting their performance in life and school is stress. The most harmful consequence of environmental abuse is global diseases warming. The first step to improving one"s wellness is to begin with a self- assessment (page 18-19 in textbook for example) Self-efficacy = the belief in your ability to take action and perform a specific task (textbook definition, page 21)
