Servius was a de facto king but from time to time tarquin said that servius rule without the people"s consent. Tarquin wanted the throne for himself and when he saw the senators were mad. Servius was giving the people land he saw an opportunity to bash the king on the senate floor. Lucius tarquinius may have been the son/grandson of king tarquinius priscus. Had a brother arruns tarquinius and the two had married the two tullias, daughters of the king. Tullia was mad because her husband was not hungry for power so she wanted to marry the other tarquin who she saw as a real man. They were similar and this drew them together (evil attracts evil) Tarquin was frenzied by the ambition of his wife and looked for support from the senators from lesser families and reminded them of favours his father had done for them and now was looking for their support in return.
