Soon after the outbreak of the war and frustrated by boer guerilla tactics, lord kitchener began a scorched earth policy of destroying boer farms and forcing people into refugee camps, also known as concentration camps. The camp conditions were horrible and people suffered from not enough food and water supplies and from diseases. She took great amounts of food and clothing from.
