Readings 22 - horace satire 5: 251-254. Having left rome for aricia, an inn welcomes him. Orator helidorus = his companion: he was the most studied man by far of the greeks. From the inn, the men traveled to forum appi a place with many sailors and hotel- keepers. Slaves and bargemen shouting: collecting fees and bargaining, he cannot sleep because of all the noise going on, at last, they became tired and go to bed as well. The day has come but he notices their ship is not going anywhere: after breakfast they travel and arrive at anxur. It is at anxur that they meet maecenas: very important business, skilled at resolving conflicts between friends. They arrived at a tiny village which provided them with shelter: the public officers gave them food and drink, maecenas went off to go play some sports, while he and virgil got some rest.
