Correlations are not always one to one but close enough for our purposes. A hero because he chooses his fate over desire. Fact that he is able to accept his destiny shows how he is strong and respected by many. His compassion for the sufferings of others, even in conjunction with a single-minded devotion to his duty, is another aspect of his heroism. Pick up story in book 1 after the fall of troy. Last time we saw troy was at the funeral of hector and glances in the odyssey. A hero struggling to find safety after the fall of troy, but this time the hero is trojan and not greek. Opening of the poem compared to homer"s epics: no invocation of the muse, authorial voice here, rather than authorial obscurity through divine inspiration.
