What is a group: group: a small collection of people whose members interact with each other, usually face-to-face, over time in order to reach goals. Interdependence: the behaviour of one person in a group affects all the others in what can be called a ripple effect". In a group, certain standards of acceptable behaviour being to evolve, and the way individuals feel about each other begins to affect their behaviour towards the group"s task and toward each other. Size: groups can range in size, but the smallest definition of a group is 3 people, optimal group size is the smallest number of people capable of performing the task at hand effectively. Goals: group membership isn"t always voluntary however, whether or not people choose to join groups, they usually hope to achieve one or more goals. Learning groups: a group whose goal is to expand its knowledge about some topic other than itself or its individual members.
