Interaction b/w it and the firm is influenced by mediating factors, including the firm"s structure, environment, culture, politics, business process, and management decisions. Technical definition tells us how thousands of firms combine capital, labor and it; a stable, formal, social structure that takes resources from the environment and converts or processes them to produce outputs. Organizations are formal, legal entities that are governed by an internal set of rules, procedures, as well as a social structure. Behavioral definition emphasizes group relationships, values, and structure within on single firm; collection of rights, privileges, obligations and responsibilities, that are balanced over a period of time through conflict and conflict resolution. Technical; how inputs are combined to create outputs when technological changes are implemented. Behavioral; how the organizational balance of rights, privileges, responsibilities change when tech changes are implemented. All of them are bureaucracies with clear-cut division of labor and specialization.
