Info processing in older children: working memory capacity and efficiency, development of strategy use, role of knowledge, core knowledge theory: an innate acquisition of knowledge is evolutionarily- preserved, distinctive knowledge domains (objects, living things, and people) Understanding of objects: objects exist independently, objects move along continuous paths, not through other objects. Based on the computer metaphor; views cognitive changes in terms of better strategies, increased capacity of working memory, more effective and faster inhibitory and executive processing. Core knowledge views cognitive development as an innate capability to easily acquire knowledge in specialized domains of evolutionary importance, such as language, knowledge of objects, and understanding people. In piaget"s theory, children make the journey alone as they interact with the physical world; other people certainly influence the direction that children take, but the child is seen as a solitary adventurer-explorer boldly forging ahead.
