Purpose of a review article is to synthesize what is already known about a topic by connecting previous studies and offering new interpretations of their contributions of scientific knowledge. Requires: extensive search of the literature, extraction of key information from relevant articles, the clear and concise presentation of this information. Well written articles can be the foundation of new research in the field - bc it"s a summary. Limitations: less rigorous, less original, sometimes hard to get published. Narrative reviews: tell a story about a topic using evidence from literature to support the plot , must be organised by theme. Other guiding principles: not as common editors want them to use systematic reviews more. Systematic reviews: use predetermined and comprehensive searching and screening method to identify relevant articles, designed to minimize publication bias when researcher hand picks the articles, require. Selection of a well-defined and valid search strategy.
