Namt and aamt merged to create single organization american music therapy. Board certi cation exam - sponsored by namt and aamt in 1985 implemented to strengthen the credentials of the profession. Jean piaget 4 stages of development: sensorimotor (newborn - 2 years) Infant directed speech: speech that is typically slower, higher pitched, and has greater in ection: pre-operational (2-7) Parallel play: children are very egocentric and unaware of other peoples pov/needs. Hence, they may play next to other children, and engage in similar activities, but cooperation/interaction is rare.
