Approach: a means of attaining a goal or purpose often used to describe a way of teaching a musical skill ex: playing guitar. Theory: systematic statement of principles within mt its used in conjunction with psychological or scienti c explanations of behaviours, emotions, thoughts etc that have been scrutinized through scienti c methods of veri cation. Model: generalized hypothetical description used in analyzing or explaining something. In mt model used to illustrate relationship of musical sounds and music engagement with behaviours, cognition, emotions, and physical functioning. Until 1900s mt in the us was limited to a few isolated occurrences no formal training mostly based on intuition and personal philosophy.
