Sees human beings as essentially productive people (materialist beings) History = the development of things that we use. Proliferation of these productive forces into a contemporary industry (went through it during the industrial revolution) Corresponding to each stage in the development of the means of production, there will be corresponding social relationships that will emerge to reflect those.
