The scientific method: conduct a theory, generate hypothesis, choose research method, collect data, analyze data, report the findings, revise existing theories. The scientific method is a method for collectively analyzing information while trying to minimize biases, conflicts and oversights. Scientists use information around them such as previous test results to produce a theory a general set of ideas about the way the world works. A theory leads to a hypothesis a testable statement guided by theories that make specific predictions about the relationship between variables. A research method is selected to determine the way the hypothesis will be tested. Scientists then collect data (take measurements from the test) Next they analyze the data to understand it and discover trends or relationships between the variables. This will lead to the scientist either accepting or rejecting their original hypothesis. They then report their findings to others and publish them in scholarly journals, which must go through an acceptance and review process.
