Informal answers to psychological questions are created by us because they satisfy us in many situations. Operational de nitions are a key element in the design of any scienti c study. To ask and answer questions, psychologists need to agree on exactly how the variables involved are de ned. Construct - a theoretical idea that is quite useful for describing a concept in a general way, but dif cult to measure in practice. Operational de nitions are essential and they are always open to argument. Psychology has a wide variety of perspectives. Some of the common methods of analysis used in psychology: learning, cognition, social development, evolution, neuroscience. The level of analysis a given researcher uses in uences the kind of questions that can be asked and answered. Researchers ideally will apply a multi-level approach, incorporating ideas and nding from across a variety of perspectives.
