The reality that actions can be shaped by the environment, and maintained by their consequences, are principles that are widely used in many applied settings including cognitive behaviour therapy, game design, and educational psychology. However, skinner went a step further and believed that these principles could be used to positively change society as a whole. Orient towards stimuli and either respond more (sensitization) and focus attention or respond less (habituation) and ignore. Associative form of learning called classical conditioning, which allows you to anticipate biologically important events. These types of learning involve behaviours that are automatically triggered there is no conscious decision-making that takes place. However, you also behave in ways that produce environmental changes and have consequences. The behaviours are initiated by, and are under the control of, the organism. The mechanics of learning that govern these types of behaviour in another form of associative learning called instrumental learning.
