PSYCH 1XX3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 4.1: White Matter, Grey Matter, Optic Chiasm
Document Summary
Hypotheses can be tested in a less objective by agreeing upon observed or experienced evidence. Through the psychological perspective, the senses gather information and then the information is interpreted. It begins with sensation which converts the physical characteristics of the world to electrical signals. The electrical signals will converge onto a nerve through a process referred to as transduction; this is where sensation stops and where we are conscious of what we are seeing. Perception refers to the processing that leads conscious awareness. Our human perception has physical limitations such as not perception to very long or short wavelengths. We, as humans, are physically capable of being aware to only a small portion of the perceptions available. This is based on the idea that other species can hear and see at different frequencies and wavelengths then we can (cid:8211) where our sense organs do not respond to.
