PSYCH 1XX3 Chapter Notes - Chapter Colour perception: Two-Streams Hypothesis, Color Blindness, Color Vision
Document Summary
Neurons in the co blobs also respond in centre-surrounded fashion. In people that are colour blind, most aren"t immediately aware of their colour blindness: assume everyone sees just as they do. Injury to visual cortex could make it happen (stroke, tumour) Genetic: usually an inherited condition: affects 1 in 20 males, lesser degree in females. Usually people are only unable to see specific colors: most often see red and green as greys (red-green colorblind, rarely where we see people who cannot see yellow blue as greys. 3 common types of colour blindness: protanopia. Have red cones that are filled with photopigments for green: deuteranopia. Have green cones that are filled with photo pigments for red: tritinopia. See the world in shades of red, green and grey. Not carried on x chromosome (equally common in m and f) Likely to occur when blue cones are lacking / defective.
