Adaptations biological traits that help an individual survive and reproduce in its habitat. Eyes allow you to see and respond to things around you effectively. Enable organisms to interact with a complex physical environment. Cognitive psychologists are adaptationists: they find it helpful to break down large- scale cognitive processes into adaptive problems or tasks, and seek adaptations to solve those problems. Natural selection formalized by charles darwin, and is one of the 4 basic mechanisms of evolution (the others: mutation, genetic drift, and migration) Differential survival and reproduction of organisms as a result of the heritable differences between them. Three essential components to darwin and wallace"s insight: Population of fish that vary in colour, some are red and some are blue. The blue fish are well camouflaged in ocean water, but red fish are more visible to predators red fish get eaten more, blue fish survive and reproduce more.
