Measure of the number of offspring one can have (as many as possible) in order to pass on genes. Evolved psychological mechanisms are coded in the brain. Evolved psychological mechanisms can be described by information processing devices. Newborns faces look equally as mom and dad. However, relatives and mom tend to say that the child looks more like the father. No uncertainty that the child is the mothers. The same certainty does not exist for the father: it is not certain that the child belongs to the father. Characteristics are valued differently between the sexes. Female lists characteristics that has to do with stability: romance in the friend zone is not alright. Male lists characteristics that has to do with fertility, health and beauty: romance in the friend zone is alright. Both groups misattribute their own attraction to others: if one individuals likes another, then they must also feel the same (incorrect notion)
