Document Summary
Not all individuals go through all the 5 steps of grief in the same order. Learning style does not determine one"s ability to learn rather ability to learn is affected by another mechanism such as intelligence. Behaviourist: focuses on behaviour, the disorder is abnormal behaviour and this is what needs to be treated, need to recondition; learn stimulus-response connection, create a new contingency, limitations. Only focusing on behaviour; prevents the discovery of other mechanisms responsible as well. All disorders do not have a behavioural component. Cognitive: how someone"s thoughts, attitudes and beliefs affects one"s behaviour, incorrect interpretation of information; negative perspective, treatment: change the way people think and interpret (into a more positive way) Biological: mental disorder is a disease that needs to be removed, a part of the brain is working correctly (need to correct that, treatment: medicine ~ corrects the chemical imbalance. Trying to understand the interaction between these 2 components.
