Often persist through adulthood and are lifelong problems: not ones unique to children. The absence of early social relationships has other serious consequences: disruption of motivation to interact with others leads children to have a more difficult time to communicate may not want to learn how to speak. Knowing what processes are disrupted helps us understand disorders better. One of the most common disorders in children. Symptoms become increasingly obvious during school years. 2/3 of children with adhd have ongoing difficulty though adulthood. More common in families in which one personah as the disorder. Patterns of inattention (ex: becoming forgetful about school) These can disrupt academic efforts and social relationships. People with adhd have difficulty sustaining their attention on a task / activity leads to tasks being unfinished. May also display motor hyperactivity: feeling restless and fidgety.
