Many modern writers have altered freud"s ideas in various degrees through their summaries and interpretations. Anna freud, carl jung, alfred adler, erik erikson, karen horney, Bruno bettelheim, harry stack sullivan, melanie klein, d. w. Winnicott, henry murray, john bowlby theorists who continued to develop neo-freudian psychology. Most neo-freudians used the same research methods as freud: they saw patients, looked into themselves, read widely in history and literature, and drew conclusions. This approach allows psychoanalysts of every type to cover a lot of theoretical ground. Most neo-freudians differ from freud in 3 major aspects: They view sex as less important than freud did: they place less emphasis on libido as the sexual wellspring of, instead, they reinterpret libido as a general motivation toward thought and behaviour life and creativity. Puts less emphasis on instinctual drives and mental life as the source of psychological difficulties, and focuses on interpersonal relationships instead.
