Hindsight bias tendency to exaggerate how much they could have predicted the outcome after knowing that it occurred. Theory organized set of principles that can be used to explain phenomena. Hypothesis testable statement about the relationship between variables; usually based on a theory. The formation of hypothesis and theories is a cycle; form a hypothesis and the results of the experiment can form a new theory. Researchers often base theories and form hypotheses about real events that happen and then test their ideas for accuracy through the collection of data. Observational describes the nature of a phenomenon. Ethnography the observation of a group from the inside but without intervention on the part of the researcher. It is important to clearly define variables in order to be able to reproduce the experiment and universalise the findings. Variables and definitions will vary with age and gender.
