Task of psychologist is to try to understand and predict human behaviour. Phenomenon of social influence: we are all influenced by other people: e. g. , direct attempts at persuasion feelings, actions. Social influence extends beyond behaviour includes thoughts, We are often influenced by the presence of other people. Social psychology as the scientific study of the way in which people"s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by the real or imagined presence of other people (allport, 1985) Social psychology is concerned not as much as anthropology and sociology with social situations, but more so how people are influenced by interpretation, or construal of their social environment. More important to understand how people perceive, comprehend, and interpret the social than it is to understand the object properties of the social world. A task of a social psychologist is to make an educated guess. Folk wisdom or common sense (hypotheses) of the social world.
