Self-recognition occurs at around 2 years of age, at first we define ourselves more based on physical traits and as we get older more to do with psychological traits. Self-control is like a muscle, we need to devote energy to it, limits amount of time that can be spent on another task. We often fail at self control when under stress - because you don"t have energy to lend to self control. People take up smoking again, stop diets when they"re stressed. Best at self-control when well rested and calm. Self-schemas an organized body of knowledge about the self (attitudes, preferences, traits etc. ) that influences what people notice, think about, and remember about themselves.
