Problem space: the set of all states that can be reached in solving the problem. Approaches to solving the search problem: check every option (time and energy consuming, may not be possible, when considering only some options, you risk overlooking the best option. Problem-solving protocols: running commentaries participants are asked to produce as they work on solving problems. Working backward: use the goal as the starting point and ask how the goal state can be made more similar to the current state.
