87 views9 pages

Document Summary

Puberty is an entire set of delicately synchronized biological events. Endocrine system a system of glands that produce hormones, as well as parts of the brain and nervous system that regulate hormone production. Hormones chemical substances that circulate through the bloodstream and regulate many bodily functions. Adolescent growth spurt a period of rapid physical development that lasts from about 10-16 for girls and 12-18 for boys. Timing of puberty: some boys and girls can finish puberty before others who are the same age, have even started. Puberty and history: the combination of poverty, stress, malnutrition and hard work would have pushed the age of puberty to near the upper limit set by our genes. For many, puberty is a time when their relationship with their parents becomes less close and more filled with conflict. With puberty, children are moving into a new stage that makes the usual ways their parents deal with them out-moded.
