Definitions of society will differ depending on perspective of researcher. Interactionist perspective: society exists as the network of interactions between people. This definition means that individual and society cannot be separated from each other. Individuals continually create and are molded by society. Assume it is impossible to study individual without incorporating study of society. When enough individuals in society begin to change the way they think, feel, or talk about an issue, society as a whole changes. Interactionist perspective: agency refers to our ability to act and think independently from constraints imposed by social conditions. We have the ability to make choices and decisions on our own.
