In canada today, a diversity of family patterns reflects broad changes in the conditions of daily life. Changes that present opportunities for some, but constraints and handicaps for others: extended family: when long parents often live with their parents or siblings. Family has a variety of meanings depending on the context: nuclear family, advocates of neoliberalism have mobilized family values discourse to promote their central idea that families, and not the state, are responsible for peoples welfare.
