The systematic study of the nature and causes of human social behavior. Includes many aspects such as: process of social interaction between 2 or more people, relationship amongst individuals and the groups to which they belong, behavior moves beyond action. Affect (emotion) and cognition (thoughts: not only what we do but hat we feel and think, social psychologists are not satisfied to simply document the nature of social behavior. Individuals activities in the presence of others and in particular situations explore the causes of this behavior. Theory is crucial for the prediction and control of social behavior: social psychologists study social behavior in a systematic fashion. A social science that employs the scientific method and relies on formal research methodologies like experimentation, structured observation, and sample surveys.
