It was mead"s genius that he explained the nature and origins of human intelligence the mind that could deal with inner experience and simultaneously account for the social nature of human life. Interpersonal evaluations simply as one of many sources of information from which people derive their personal self-evaluations. Interpersonal effects on se reflect a maladaptive reliance on the approval of other people, arguing that healthy se ought not to be influenced by what other people think of the individual. In contrast to these intrapersonal perspectives, other theorists have conceptualized se explicitly in interpersonal terms: echo the symbolic interactions" claim that the self is an inherently social construction that arises in the context of interpersonal relations.
