Film noir: franz waxman was recognized for back-to-back oscars for sunset blvd. and a place in the sun employing an effective film noir style in both of these films. Sunset blvd: for musician the most famous retelling of this story is the expressionistic opera by richard strauss which is based on an oscar wilde play from 1893.
