PSYC 2245 Chapter Notes - Chapter 9: Physical Attractiveness
Document Summary
A basic human need is to be with others which is the reason why we tend to make relationships with others. However, for an individual to be with another person whether in a romantic or casual relationship, they need to be attracted to that person. Yet, one might ask what causes us to develop a relationship with a certain person not the other, why is it that certain individuals and not someone else. To answer this question, we need to look into ourselves. In other words, what are our personality types, our likes and dislikes, how do we like to be treated, and on what we base our evaluations. Now, based on these elements our attraction to people takes place. Psychologist have developed many methods to explain the cause of this attraction and how it happens. Including, interaction rate, similarity, their attitudes towards us, and their physical appearance.
