Note: pectineus is innervated by both femoral nerve and the anterior branch of the obturator nerve: also supplies skin on the inside of the leg by way of saphenous nerve. This compartment contains adductors of the thigh: all originate from the pubis, mostly insert on the medial lip of the linea aspera. The muscles are arranged into 2 layers from anterior to posterior: anterior layer: gracilis, pectineus, adductor longus, posterior layer: adductor brevis, adductor magnus, hamstring part of adductor magnus. Uppermost of the 3 insertions on the linea aspera. Inserts below the pectineus on the linea aspera.
