Introduction: 5 main categories of political actors in the global system are, government and the un, transnational companies, non governmental organizations, intergovernmental organizations, international non governmental organizations. Problems with the state-centric approach: advantage of this approach is that the complexity of world politics is reduced to the implication of the interactions between 200 similar units, however there are 4 major problems with this approach. The difference between state and nation: assumption that politics within states is different from politics between states because people"s loyalty to their nation is more intense than other loyalties. Triangulation of trade and loss of sovereignty: governments now have a harder time regulating international transactions, no method of preventing indirect trade between countries. Non-legitimate groups and liberation movements as political actors. Non-governmental organization as political actors: ngos are now about of the un as long as they abide by the un"s laws for ngos, can consult.
