Document Summary
Describe the heritability of certain traits, including weather they are polygenic. Nature or nurture: born with it (from genes)= nativism, gained it through experience (from the environment)= empiricism. Genes and alleles: everything is controlled by proteins. Genes- small units of dna that direct the synthesis of proteins and enzymes and result in the expression of inheritable traits (eye color) Genotype- refers to the genetic makeup of a trait. Phenotype- refers to how the trait is expressed. Bb and bb both have the same phenotype but different genotypes. Recessive traits can show up phenotypically in generations that both carry the resesive gene. Single gene traits- fearfulness was shown to be passed on to future generations in the same way eye colour is passed on, also could be anxiety. Polygenetic- a trait that is influenced by more tah one pair of genes.
