Document Summary

If not, they are heterozygous: the two genes at a given locus are called alleles. Dna sequence (a mutation: most epigenetic changes affect non-reproductive dna or cause changes in cells that are passed on as the cells divide asexually, as most cells do, the genome dynamically responds to the environment. If the environment is the same for all individuals, then any differences that we observe will largely be caused by genes, and heritability will be large in this case. In this process, the genes that code for morphological, physiological, neuronal, and behavioural characteristics associated with survival and relative reproductive success increase in frequency over generations, along with the characteristics that they code for. It is obviously designed to accomplish some biological purpose. It operates in a similar manner over cultures and time. It is plausibly related to reproductive and survival success in ancestral environments.
