Psychology: the scientific study of behaviour, thought, experience, and how they can be affected by physical, mental, social and environmental factors. There are obviously many overlapping factors that come in to play when studying the science. Looks at individuals as product of multiple influences (biological, psychological, social factors) All studies are based on a scientific method. Scientific method: collecting observations, developing theories to explain them, using those theories to make predictions. Hypothesis: a testable prediction about a process that can be observed and measured: all hypotheses must be falsifiable, ca(cid:374)"t (cid:271)e p(cid:396)o(cid:448)ed (cid:894)suppo(cid:396)ted o(cid:396) (cid:396)eje(cid:272)ted(cid:895) Falsifiable: a hypothesis is precise enough that it can be proven false. Pseudoscience: an idea that is presented as a science but does not use scientific procedure. (astrology: difference between science and astrology: scientists are eager to test hypotheses, while astrologers would rather you take their word.
