Document Summary
Personality is a pattern of thinking and interacting that is unique to each individual and remains relatively consistent over time and across situations. Four personality perspectives: trait, psychodynamic, humanistic, and social- cognitive. Minnesota multiphasic inventory test asks people to answer true/false questions about themselves. Rorshach test provides the subject with a series of inkblots and the person then must describe what they see in the inkblot. Myers-briggs type indicator test identifies personality types and cognitive styles. Thematic apperception test is where the person makes up stories about a series of ambiguous pictures presented on cards. The trait perspective is the classic approach to the psychological study of personality. The trait approach classifies and describes psychological characteristics by which people differ consistently between situations and over time. The goal for trait theorists is to find a small set of meaningful traits that can describe the personality of any individual.
