Uncovering the unconscious: unacceptable urges likely leak into everyday behaviour when consciousness is relaxed: Free association: patients relaxed and say anything that comes to mind without consciously monitoring/controlling what they say. Parapraxes: mistakes in speaking and acting, caused by our unconscious desires: e. g. freudian slip or mistake in speech; mistake in action or an accident.
